Russian troops use Avdiivka tactics near Chasiv Yar – British Intelligence

The UK Defence Ministry reported this. 

On April 14, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Russian troops intend to capture Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine by May 9. According to him, Chasiv Yar is a step towards further advancement towards Kramatorsk.

Already on April 18, a representative of the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping of troops noted that the Russian air force was dropping 20-30 rounds of ammunition a day.

According to British intelligence, they are likely to be dropped by Russian Su-25 aircraft operating near the contact line and Su-34 aircraft operating at a distance from the contact line, using cruise bombs.

"This is a concerted aerial bombardment and is a tactic repeated the Avdiivka campaign. Chasiv Yar town is heavily defended and situated on high ground. Russian ground forces have made only slow progress in the area," the British Ministry of Defence emphasized.
