Russia boosts all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles usage on frontlines - British intelligence
Russian troops ramp up ATV and motorcycle use for transporting personnel and attacking Ukrainan positions since early 2024, especially at night
The UK Ministry of Defense reported the information.
The agency reminds that in November 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally inspected the newly purchased Chinese all-terrain vehicles Desertcross 1000-3 from Odes Industries. Russia has reportedly purchased over 2,100 of these vehicles.
British intelligence suggests that Russian troops are increasingly using lighter and faster vehicles to reconnoiter Ukrainian defensive positions in order to enable subsequent attacks using artillery, FPV drones, or kamikaze drones.
“However, in sacrificing armour and firepower for increased mobility, light vehicles are far more vulnerable than their armoured counterparts to an array of weapon systems. Ukrainian FPV drones have already demonstrated their ability to effectively target such light vehicles,” the British Ministry of Defense emphasizes.
- Recently, soldiers of the 21st Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine captured a Russian soldier who came to storm Ukrainian positions on a moped.
