After victory some must be held accountable for lost opportunities and negligence - Azov officer on Mariupol defense
Ihor Florko, an officer of the National Guard's Azov, believes those responsible for defense failures at the start of the Russian invasion should be held accountable after Ukraine's victory
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“I will speak without specifics and without names. However, despite the fact that some people in our country are doing a lot, after the war is over and we have won, they must be held accountable. In particular, for missed opportunities, deliberate sabotage and carelessness in certain security issues. I believe that if the Crimean Isthmus, which was well mined and well guarded, had fulfilled its task, the heavy fighting in Mariupol and the withdrawal of the city's defenders from Azovstal could have been avoided,” Florko said.
The officer emphasized that those responsible for certain decisions must be punished.
“It is too late to talk about this now. We will deal with this after our victory over the enemy. However, I want to emphasize that one must be held accountable for such things,” he added.
