Presenter of Russia’s TV Rain fired for declaring his support for Russian military
The Russian Dozhd (Rain) TV channel has fired the host Alexei Korostelev, who declared his support for the Russian occupation forces live on air
A colleague of the dismissed media person, Ekaterina Kotrikadze, said this on the air of the Dozhd channel, the Baza Telegram channel reports.
“This is a very difficult decision for us, but the management of Dozhd considers it the only correct and possible one,” the journalist said.
At the same time, the Editor-in-Chief of the TV channel Tikhon Dzyadko apologized for his former employee and stated that Dozhd does not help equip the Russian army.
Mass demands to close the channel and expel its employees from Latvia, where the editorial office is currently based, emerged on social media after the host of the Rain TV called on Russians to report violations during mobilization and said the channel helps provide everything the Russian occupying forces need.
“We hope that we were able to help many servicemen, for example, with equipment and basic amenities at the front,” Alexei Korostelev said.
The Minister of Defense of Latvia Artis Pabriks also reacted and tweeted that Dozhd is really better to work in Russia.
Ukraine's Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko reacted to the statement of the Russian TV presenter on Telegram.
“When "good Russians" help "bad Russians," can the world finally understand that they are all the same?” Oleksandr Tkachenko said.
