Russia deploys new FAB-3000 M-54 bomb for first time at front in Ukraine
The occupying Russian army used a new FAB-3000 M-54 bomb with a unified planning and correction module (UMPC) for the first time
The Institute for the Study of War reported the information.
The tests took place on June 20 near Lyptsi, Kharkiv region. According to Russian sources, the FAB-3000 M-54 will cause significant destruction even if it falls 10 meters from the intended target.
Former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, during a visit to Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region, first announced the serial production of FAB-3000 M-54, a variant of the dumb bomb weighing over 3,000 kilograms that can be converted into guided planning bombs with the addition of a UMPC modification.
Previously, Russia praised the production of FAB-3000 bombs but noted that their weight and large dimensions would make them difficult for most Russian tactical aircraft to deliver. Analysts believe that if Russian troops manage to launch a massive volley of FAB-3000s, they could cause even more damage to Ukrainian frontline positions and critical infrastructure.
