Diplomat Shcherbak on Trump's offer to share his 'peace plan': Zelenskyy's words contain trolling element
Former Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, the United States, and Canada Yuriy Shcherbak believes that Trump's statement on the 'peace plan' is demagogy and populism.
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"We cannot ignore the Republicans and the possibility of Trump's nomination for the US presidency. There is an element of trolling in Zelenskyy's words, because Trump's arrogant statement that in two days he will eliminate and resolve the war in Ukraine is a bluff, a demagogy, and populism. That is why Trump's invitation to Ukraine to present his plan on how he will do this is a challenge to him. Because there is nothing behind Trump's statements," Shcherbak emphasized.
According to the diplomat, it is quite possible that Trump could become president of the United States, which is what Putin is hoping for.
"Putin is betting on Trump. We need to study what Trump can offer, other than giving away half of Ukraine's territories, and thus meet the bloody Russian aggressor halfway. This is a disaster, and a defeat not only for Ukraine, but for the entire democratic world. It is interesting to know whether the Republicans have any plan to achieve peace with Russia, or whether it is just demagogy and propaganda," Shcherbak said.
- President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited Trump to Ukraine and commented on the former US president's statement, noting that he cannot end the war and establish peace if he is ready to give up Ukrainian territory to Russia.
