China may betray Putin but wants to preserve Russia as its main partner - China expert Koval
China will work out a peace plan so that Russian President Vladimir Putin loses, but Russia as a state, as its partner, is preserved
This was stated on the air of Espreso by China expert Oleksiy Koval.
"I can already preliminarily name the points that will be in China's "peace plan". It will mention respect for the territorial integrity of all countries, compliance with the UN Charter, taking into account the concerns of all countries about their own security and support for measures to resolve the crisis through dialogue and negotiations," the expert said.
Koval emphasized that these positions are very general.
"In practice, China will strive to ensure that Ukraine does not win so that Russia loses. China will work out a plan so that Putin loses, for sure, but so that Russia as a state, as a partner of China, is preserved. I think this is the maximum plan that China can do. It can betray Putin, who has lost, but China wants Russia to remain as its main geopolitical partner," the China expert said.
In his opinion, for China, the collapse of the Russian Federation will be another geopolitical catastrophe, just like the USSR.
"China will find itself face to face with the Western world. It also has a long border with Russia, and China will have to solve its own security problems. Disintegration of the Russian Federation will lead to a completely different situation on China's northern borders, which will be a security challenge for China. It will have to ensure its security from a disintegrating nuclear power," Koval summarized.
Wang Yi, Head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, shared with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine the key positions of the "peace plan", which will be studied in detail by the Ukrainian side after receiving the full text
