Bakhmut remains Russia's main goal to reach borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions
Serhiy Zgurets, CEO of Defense Express military expert group, noted that positional battles will continue for some time in Bakhmut's direction.
He said this on Espreso TV channel.
"Russian enemy is trying to bypass Bakhmut not only from the north but from the south, where Klishchiivka settlement is located. Now hostilities have intensified there and Russian troops try to advance towards Klishchiivka, but there is no success. Bakhmut remains Russia's main target for the near term, and more distant is the enemy's statements that they want to reach the borders of the Donetsk region and Luhansk region. This strategic goal remains," Zgurets emphasized.
According to the expert, Russian troops try to bring airborne units to Bakhmut direction in order to try to push through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Bakhmut and Soledar are bridgeheads on which a large number of Russian forces were destroyed. Positional battles will continue for some time in Bakhmut direction," Zgurets added.
