Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian attacks near over 20 settlements, including Soledar and Bakhmut - AFU General Staff 

This was reported on January 17 by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Russian troops continue to conduct full-scale armed aggression against our country, striking populated areas, destroying infrastructure and civilian housing, thereby violating the norms of international humanitarian law, laws and customs of war.

Russian forces block Ukrainian channels in several villages of Kherson region

Thus, in three settlements of the Kherson region’s temporarily occupied territories, Russian forces stopped broadcasting all Ukrainian TV channels and only Russian television is broadcasted. 

Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled attacks in more than 20 towns and villages and hit 11 areas of Russian forces' concentration

On January 16, Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled the Russian attacks in the areas of more than 20 settlements, including: Bilohorivka (Luhansk region); Verkhnyokamyans’ke, Spirne, Krasnopolivka, Sil, Soledar, Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Pivnichne, Kamyanka, Vodyane, Nevelske, Maryinka, and Pobieda (Donetsk region).

The units of the missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a control point, 11 areas of Russian forces' concentration, a fuel and lubricants depot and an ammunition depot.

Russia launched 2 missile and 7 air strikes against Ukraine over the last day

Over the past day, Russia conducted 2 missile and 7 air strikes and fired more than 70 attacks from multiple missile launchers. In particular, civilian infrastructure was hit. There were wounded and killed among the civilian population.

There is a high danger of further Russian air and missile strikes on objects throughout Ukraine.

Russia does not abandon its intentions to capture the entire Donetsk region. It is conducting offensive actions at the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.

Russia is trying to improve the tactical situation at the Kupiansk, Lyman and Vuhledar directions, and continues to defend at the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions.

On the border with Belarus and northern border with Russia, the situation is without significant changes, no Russian offensive groups were detected. 

More than fifteen settlements came under tank, mortar and artillery fire. Among them are ten in the Kharkiv region.

In the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, Russia shelled the areas of more than 15 settlements. In particular, there are three in the Kharkiv region and seven in the Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, ten settlements in the Donetsk region, and over 15 localities in total, were hit by fire.

Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomayske, Heorhiivka, Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region came under hostile fire in the Avdiivka direction of the Donetsk region.

Three settlements of the Donetsk region were shelled in the Vuhledar direction.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, more than 15 localities suffered from artillery fire, in particular two in the Donetsk region and nine in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, Russian forces do not stop terrorizing civilians. In particular, six settlements in the Kherson region came under mortar and artillery fire.
