Azovmash plant destroyed not because of war - advisor to Mariupol mayor
Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, said that over the past ten years, Azovmash has been run by pro-Russian leaders who have completely plundered it
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
Azovstal has been destroyed to the ground, and nothing can be done there. It will take years to clear it of mines. Azovmash is the same story, and nothing can be done there. And not even because of hostilities, but because Azovmash was run by pro-Russian leaders who have plundered it to the extent that nothing but walls remain. Therefore, there is nothing to restore there," Andriushchenko emphasized.
According to the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Azovmash was headed by the late oligarch Savchuk, who stole a significant part of Azovmash, locating part of it in France and part in Moscow.
"All these people who have been creating the 'Russian world' since 2014 are from Azovmash. They plundered it even before the full-scale invasion began. They still owe people their salaries," Andriushchenko said.
For reference. Prior to the Russian occupation of Mariupol in 2022, Azovmash Public Joint Stock Company was the largest machine-building enterprise in Ukraine specializing in the production of equipment for the mining and metallurgical complex, tank cars, port cranes, boilers, fuel tankers, etc.
- Russia is planning to create a so-called machine-building concern on the basis of the captured and destroyed Azovmash in Mariupol, Donetsk region.
- In addition, the day before it was reported that the Avdiivka Coke Plant will be impossible to restore after the war due to the destruction caused by Russia.
