Ukraine's Air Force commander highlights successful use of HAWK air defense system
Mykola Oleschuk, the commander of the Air Force, demonstrated the effectiveness of the American HAWK anti-aircraft missile system in a night operation where Ukrainian fighters successfully intercepted Russian air threats on October 23
He shared this information on Telegram.
Oleschuk expressed his satisfaction with the operation, saying, "Achieving a one hundred percent success rate is a challenging feat, but we're making progress every day as we fortify our anti-aircraft defenses. Western weaponry has continually proven its efficacy on the battlefield."
Additionally, Oleschuk posted a video showcasing the HAWK air defense system in action during the Russian attacks that night. He emphasized that this system, alongside more modern allied technologies, is instrumental in safeguarding Ukrainian airspace.
"I extend my thanks to all those who protect our airspace for their outstanding results and their rapid and unwavering efforts in mastering these new systems. We are dedicated to enhancing our air defense capabilities and safeguarding our nation," he added.
- During the night of October 23, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukrainian territory, employing attack drones and missiles. Notably, they targeted Odesa's port infrastructure. However, Ukraine's air defense forces effectively neutralized all aerial threats from the Russian Federation, including 14 drones and one Kh-58 air-to-surface missile.
