Will EU be able to provide one million ammo rounds for Ukraine?
European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton believes that the EU can still achieve its goal of producing 1 million shells by spring 2024, which can then be delivered to Ukraine
Politico reports this.
“I want to tell you here today that we will stick to our commitment," Breton said on January 9.
He said that reducing exports to non-EU nations will help accomplish this goal. Breton also pointed out that it's critical to ensure that member state governments exert pressure on their armaments industries to boost output.
Breton is certain that the EU can catch up to Russia in the next 18 to 24 months with regard to weaponry production. According to him, it is crucial that the EU possess the same potential.
The publication stated that Breton had chastised officials for having misgivings about the bloc's armaments ambitions amid the Ukraine crisis and doubts about the sincerity of the commitments made by its allies.
"I’m not happy when I see some defense ministers saying we will not be able to deliver, this is not the kind of information you give when there is a war on your continent," he said.
