Netherlands joins German initiative to find air defense systems for Ukraine
On Sunday, April 21, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, announced that Norway would join the IAAD initiative to provide Ukraine with air defense systems
TV2 reported the information.
The Norwegian Prime Minister emphasized that joint efforts are needed to provide Ukraine with more air defense equipment, and that this should happen immediately.
"We have very little time for delay, so Norway will be involved in financing. Several other countries are contributing to this, because there are air defense equipment that can be delivered to Ukraine quite quickly, and we have been working intensively on this in recent days and weeks," he said.
However, as the Norwegian prime minister noted, since it takes time to produce air defense equipment, the country will have to send air defense from its own stockpiles.
"This has been the pattern so far, and we have also done our part. Other countries will also dig deeper to contribute to this cause. We also need to increase production," Støre summarized.
