Zelenskyy presents award from Biden to HIMARS battery captain
On December 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed the captain of the HIMARS battery an award from American leader Joe Biden - Command Coin
This happened during his annual address to the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament, on the internal and external situation of Ukraine.
"I have one debt from the time of my visit to the United States, which I want to pay now. In this hall, there is Captain Pavlo Cherniavskyi, commander of the HIMARS battery, who was awarded the Cross of Military Merit and who handed this award to President Biden. It was an honor for me to fulfill this special mission. But the story has a second part. President Biden in return handed over a Command Coin - a special symbol from the President of the United States of America. Captain! Pavlo! I have to give this Command Coin to you now," Zelenskyy said.
On December 21, Zelenskyy and Biden held a meeting at the White House in Washington. This was the first foreign visit of the President of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. On his way back, Zelenskyy met with Polish leader Andrzej Duda.
