Zelenskyy calls for EU representatives to be directed to energy infrastructure facilities: Russia hints this would not prevent shelling
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the European Union to direct special missions to the energy infrastructure of Ukraine
He said this at the international conference "Solidarity with Ukrainian People" in Paris on December 13, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Such EU missions can become a factor in stabilizing situations and ensuring proper international control," the head of state said.
He emphasized that the stability of "our entire energy region" directly depends on these facilities.
Russia has already reacted to Zelenskyy's initiative, hinting that shelling of Ukraine's critical infrastructure will not stop if EU representatives are there.
"Probably, (Zelenskyy, - ed.) wants Europeans to sit there (on the energy infrastructure facilities, - ed.) as human shields. These fools are like cannon fodder, and Ukrainian Armed Forces probably lack cannon fodder for him. He needs fresh blood. We strongly recommend that unwavering Europeans do not accept the role assigned to them this time," Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on Telegram.
