Belarus to nominate Trump for Nobel Prize if he ends Ukraine war, President says
Self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko says that Republican Donald Trump should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize if he ends the war in Ukraine
This is stated on the Belarusian president's website.
"Trump, of course, is a powerhouse. No matter how I feel about him, he's great. It was hard to believe that he could win. They were shooting, pressuring, trying to put him in jail, and so on, but he went through like a bulldozer," Lukashenko said.
At the same time, Lukashenko said that he did not care who won the U.S. election: "I know that I have a piece of land that I have to secure and protect, my people.”
He also emphasized that if Trump succeeds in ending the war, he should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
"If he does, we will send a petition for the Nobel Prize, and he will be awarded it for doing a good deed. We hope that he will fulfill his promises. But America is not Belarus: they may forget, or something else. But we hope that he will fulfill his promise," the Belarusian leader said.
In addition, Lukashenko emphasized that not everything will depend on Donald Trump. He is convinced that the war in Ukraine requires the participation of both sides of the “conflict.”
"He will try to end the war in Ukraine, but this is not a unilateral process. It needs to be negotiated, and perhaps not only with Russia. It concerns many countries," Lukashenko added.
