Russia will take five years to capture four Ukrainian regions - UK army head
The UK army head General Sir Roland Walker has stated that Russia could take up to five years to capture four Ukrainian regions
Sky News reports.
The new head of the British Army Roland Walker mentioned that if Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine, it could take at least five years to achieve the minimum goal of fully capturing just four regions, with potential losses of up to 1.8 million soldiers, both dead and wounded.
"If they carry on as they are, it would probably take the Russians five years to grind their way to their minimum objectives of the four regions," General Walker said.
According to Walker, Russia will have to spend “billions on lost equipment” to fully capture the partially occupied Ukrainian regions.
The general emphasized that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin must be defeated in Ukraine; otherwise, NATO countries will be threatened.
"It has just started in Ukraine, so it must fail in Ukraine; otherwise, where does it go next?" he stated.
Roland Walker also noted that in a prolonged war, there are no winners.
"It is utter devastation for both sides and results in lost generations," the UK Army head concluded.
- Russia lost 1,230 troops, 66 UAVs, 11 tanks in one day of war in Ukraine. Meanhwile, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 11 tanks and 66 drones.
