Ukrainian nuclear power plants cover more than 50% of electricity consumption, 9 power units are in operation
State Nuclear Regulation Inspection says nuclear power plants cover over 50% of light consumption, and 9 power units operate in territories controlled by Ukraine
Oleh Korikov, acting head of Ukraine's State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate, reported this at a media briefing.
“Today, 9 power units of nuclear power plants operate in the territory under Ukraine's control. Of them, 8 are in the network at full capacity, one power unit is undergoing scheduled repairs,” Korikov said.
The head of Ukraine's State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate said that all 6 power units of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant are currently stopped, as the invading Russian forces are not giving the opportunity to bring the power units up to capacity for operation in Ukraine's energy system.
“All possible capacities of nuclear power plants managed by Ukraine are used to the maximum. Nuclear power plants cover more than 50% of electricity consumption in Ukraine. And currently, the same situation persists,” Korikov added.
