Ukraine’s rebuilding in focus as Zelenskyy meets World Bank delegation
On Friday, March 24, Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a World Bank delegation headed by Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde
Zelenskyy mentioned the details of the meeting in his evening address.
"I met with the World Bank delegation today. We do not lose a single day for international contacts, we work at all levels. We discussed existing support programs for Ukraine and promising new ones. Of course, we focused on reconstruction – on everything that needs to be done in many Ukrainian cities and villages that have been subjected to terrorist attacks by the Russian occupiers," he said, specifying that it was, in particular, about residential buildings and social infrastructure.
According to the President's Office, during a meeting with the World Bank delegation, Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the institution for the unprecedented support it has provided to Ukraine in the face of a full-scale Russian invasion.
"We are grateful for the number of programs that the World Bank is implementing in Ukraine, especially after the outbreak of a full-scale war. We thank you for your willingness to help even in the face of military challenges," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The parties paid special attention to securing donor funding for Ukraine's recovery projects under the coordination of the World Bank. First of all, it was about restoration in the areas of transport infrastructure, electricity and healthcare, as well as education.
In addition, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of implementing business insurance programs in Ukraine, which is especially relevant in the context of job creation.
