Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to set caloric requirements for soldiers' food
Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has established caloric requirements for the main products supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The press service of the MoD reports.
The relevant decision is the result of inspections of military units, which revealed shortcomings, in particular, in cases of supplying food with low calorie content.
“In times of war, the physical and psychological stress on military personnel is extremely high. Therefore, it is especially important that food products fully meet the needs of Ukrainian defenders in terms of nutrition and energy value. Establishing clear requirements for the energy value of food is not just a matter of standards, but a guarantee that our defenders will receive what they need to maintain combat readiness and health,” said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.
The Defense Ministry's procurement agency, DOT, is expected to start using these requirements as an annex to state contracts (agreements) for the purchase of food products, which will come into force in early 2025.
The agency added that previously, the energy value was determined by the supplier itself at the stage of concluding a contract with the DOT.
- Starting next year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will increase purchases of seasonal fruits and vegetables.
