"This is a sign of the desperation of those who invented this war": Zelenskyi comments on the strikes on the energy infrastructure
On September 11 and 12, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians were left without electricity due to the strikes by the Russian army on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of Ukraine, reports in his evening address.
"Houses, hospitals, schools, communal infrastructure. Russian missiles hit precisely those objects that have nothing to do with the infrastructure of the Armed Forces of our country," the appeal says.
He also noted that this is a sign of the Russians' desperation, that’s how they react to the defeat of the Russian forces in the Kharkiv region. They can't do anything to the Ukrainian military on the battlefield, and "that's why Russia directs its vile strikes against civilian infrastructure."
Zelenskyi emphasized that in order to protect from this, Ukraine must strengthen cooperation with everyone in the free world.
"Together we can overcome Russian terror. We need to recognize Russia as a terrorist state. We need to strengthen sanctions - the eighth EU sanctions package is needed. We need to increase aid to Ukraine, first of all, speed up the provision of air defense systems to our country," he said.
