Some NATO countries start to build collective defense mechanisms - Defense Express expert
The formation of international collective defense mechanisms has begun in some NATO countries
Defense Express expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi said this on Espreso TV.
"Some, especially active members of NATO, realizing the shortcomings of Article 5, began to use certain preventive mechanisms. For example, the 4th Suwalki Anti-Tank Regiment is part of the Polish army, which has a rather diverse material. There are also old Soviet Malyutka missile systems and relatively new Israeli anti-tank missiles. The task of this regiment is simple - if one of the Russian invaders undertakes to attack the Suwalki corridor, he must be the first to go out and stop the Russian tanks, regardless of the actions at the NATO headquarters", he said.
Kyrychevskyi emphasized that this is not an isolated case.
"The formation of such international mechanisms of collective defense within the framework of NATO is not only happening in Poland. As part of the reform on structuring under NATO standards, the Bundeswehr assumes that several mechanized battalions of the army of the Netherlands should operate together with them. Similar reforms are being carried out by France and Belgium. Belgium has rewritten the army development program so that it is fully compatible with France", the expert concluded.
