Russia strikes apartment building in Kharkiv, killing civilians, injuring children

On the night of May 31, Russian terrorists struck twice at a residential building in Kharkiv. As a result, as of 10 a.m., there are 5 dead and 25 injured.

As of 10:20 a.m., 5 dead and 25 injured are reported as a result of a Russian double strike on a residential building, writes the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov.

According to him, people may still be trapped under the rubble. 

“Eight people were hospitalized, 2 of them in serious condition. Also, a 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy were sent to the hospital, both in moderate condition,” added the head of the regional administration.

As of 09:30, the death toll increased to 5, as the body of another man was unblocked from the rubble. 

Kharkiv regional council deputy Oleksandr Skoryk told Espreso TV channel that the fate of the 5 people who remain under the rubble is unclear: “Russian terror against the city continues. The latest information is 4 dead, 25 wounded. Probably 5 people may be under the rubble, their fate is unclear. Most likely, they may be dead”.

Information about the explosions in Kharkiv appeared around 11:50 p.m. It states that the Russians attacked a residential area, with two strikes being recorded.

“Unfortunately, they hit an apartment building. There is destruction and fire. Information about the victims is being clarified,” Terekhov wrote at 00:09 a.m.

A second explosion occurred at 00:15 a.m. According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, Russian troops hit a 5-story building, there may be people under the rubble.

Terekhov at 00:24 a.m.: repeated strikes to the same place as the first ones. 

As of 03:50 a.m., there are three dead and 23 injured. Among the wounded are a 12-year-old boy and girl, as well as a medical worker and a policewoman who arrived at the scene of the explosion.

After 05:00 a.m., the National Police of Ukraine reported the details of the attack. Russian troops fired several missiles at the Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv. Residents heard at least five explosions in one area.

A man and a woman were killed as a result of a hit to a high-rise building. Their identities are being established. The 4th and 5th floors of one of the apartment blocks were completely destroyed. 

“Another munition hit the ground on the territory of a civilian production facility. A security guard born in 1959 was killed in the attack. Production facilities were damaged,” the police added.

There may be people under the rubble. Emergency and rescue operations at the site of the destroyed residential building continue.

As of 07:55 a.m., there are three dead and 25 injured as a result of Russian strikes on Kharkiv. According to Terekhov, up to 5 people may still be under the rubble.

Later, Oleh Syniehubov reported that the number of dead had increased to 4.
