Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov says that the Russian troops have set up a new torture chamber in Tokmak this week

He said this on Espreso TV.

"Today the enemy has turned the frontline Tokmak into a solid military base. The invaders are stationed on the territory of the motor transport enterprise and mainly on the territory of an industrial enterprise in Tokmak. And of course, the Russians bring a large number of their units to the city. We know that this week the occupiers opened a new torture chamber on the territory of school number 6, where they bring residents of the temporarily occupied Tokmak en masse to imprison and hold them captive," said the mayor of Melitopol.

According to him, the Russian forces are doing this to put pressure on the civilian population, trying to extinguish the resistance that continues to be exerted in the frontline cities of Tokmak and Molochansk.

"Local residents also see that the Russian enemy continues to have problems with logistics and food delivery to the frontline cities. This is also clear from the fact that the occupiers are even robbing houses and apartments to get some food. We also see a trend in Tokmak where the enemy deploys its military, moving them into the homes of civilians. Earlier we said that Russian soldiers seize houses and give a maximum of a few hours for locals to leave their homes, but now they continue to move in with civilians as a human shield," noted Ivan Fedorov.

  • The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff’s report for October 18 states that the invading Russian troops are using civilians as human shields in Tokmak.
  • On October 20, the Center for National Resistance reported that there was a humanitarian crisis in Tokmak: Russians were not bringing in enough medicine and food.
  • On November 7, Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, said that the Russian forces had intensified the movement of military equipment: they were moving it from the temporarily occupied Mariupol toward the frontline.
