Russia will try to test some weapons it hasn't used yet — military expert Zgurets
Defense Express CEO Serhiy Zgurets suggest that Russia may start testing weapons that are in service with the Russian army in Ukraine
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine said that there are examples of missile fragments that have not been used by the enemy to strike Ukraine before. It is possible that in the process of striking Ukraine, Russia will start using other types of weapons. There is speculation that some of the weapons that have been adopted by the Russian army have not yet been used, and the Russians will try to test them. Our military is aware of this," emphasized Zgurets.
Zgurets also added that the White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said on January 4 that missiles that were supplied to Russia by the DPRK were used on the territory of Ukraine on December 29 and January 2.
"The weapons in question are KN-23s. This is a North Korean copy of the Russian Iskander, which has a range of 460 km with a warhead weighing 500 kg. The strike was launched on Zaporizhzhia. There are also fragments of a missile that can be identified as a North Korean KN-23 in Kharkiv. This suggests that Russia is indeed using North Korean missiles," Zgurets explained.
- ISW reported that after the massive attack on January 2, Russian forces would continue to experiment to adapt to the capabilities of Ukrainian air defense.
- Ukraine's mobile air defense firing groups have enough missiles for man-portable air defense systems to repel several powerful Russian attacks. Ukraine will then need additional Western assistance. However, this situation is not unusual.
- Yuriy Ihnat said that as of Friday, January 5, the Ukrainian Air Force could not confirm that Russia had used missiles from North Korea.
