Russia uses newly produced Kh-101 cruise missiles for attack on Ukraine
Ivan Kyrychevskyi, military expert at Defense Express, says that Russia uses subsonic missiles of the Kh-101 type with a short production interval, which indicates a decrease in a certain stock of these missiles
He said this on Espreso TV.
"The Defense Express team wrote that they managed to find an unexploded warhead from one downed Kh-101. It turns out that this missile was manufactured in late 2023. This implies that the subsonic Kh-101 air-launched missiles are being brought to Russia "off the assembly line". However, it doesn't look like the Russians are standing at the Raduga plant and working on at least one or two missiles for the next massive attack," the military expert commented.
According to him, the Russians usually deliver these missiles in batches, and production plans are being met at the end of the month, so they can literally have fresh missiles going from the factory to the airfield right now, while the pre-made ones have had time to lie in warehouses.
"However, the fact that the Russians started firing missiles with such a short interval, i.e. a month or two after production, shows that, firstly, they have a certain stock of air-launched missiles, but only subsonic missiles of the Kh-101 type. And secondly, they have certain nuances with the quality of the components they use. We should also make a reservation that any data that is announced on any missile is relevant at the moment, but may become more complicated over time," Ivan Kyrychevskyi said.
- On January 2, Defense Express reported that Russia had attacked Kyiv with the Kh-101 cruise missile, which it produced in the fourth quarter of 2023.
- On January 23, the Russian army launched missiles at Ukraine. The attack resulted in deaths and injuries, including in Kyiv and the region, Kharkiv, and Pavlohrad. Russian troops fired 41 missiles to attack Ukraine. The Ukrainian air defense system managed to destroy 21 enemy missiles, including 15 cruise missiles.
