Russia seeks new routes to launch missiles
Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Operational Command, said that the Russians are looking for new routes to launch missiles: they are currently testing the Ukrainian air defense system
Humeniuk said this during a telethon.
"They realized that the loss of aircraft is absolutely real in the Kherson sector. A convincing example is the loss of three fighter-bombers, a reconnaissance aircraft, and an air control center. These are all very significant losses in our direction," she noted.
Humeniuk explained that the Russian troops are currently trying to measure the range of missile launches by entering from the Black and Azov Seas. She gave an example of guided aerial bombs that are launched at a distance of 50 to 70 kilometers and then fly along their route without endangering aircraft.
"Based on these parameters, the enemy is testing where they can attack from. They are obviously looking for new launch sites, because they realize that they still have overall air superiority, but there is also a very high risk that their aircraft will be destroyed by us," said Humeniuk.
According to her, a break between massive missile attacks may indicate that further strikes are being prepared. At the same time, the Russian army does not stop attacking selectively.
"Yesterday, Russian troops attacked the Mykolaiv region with an Kh-59 missile. Although they could have used tactical aircraft from the Black Sea. And quite likely, it was a reconnaissance by combat to check the readiness of air defense systems. (...) They use missile strikes in different directions, detecting air defense systems and trying to plot future routes for such strikes," Humeniuk added.
In addition, the Russians have reduced the use of "shaheds": this may indicate "certain difficulties." However, according to Humeniuk, there is activity of cargo planes in the Tehran-Moscow direction, which may indicate that Russia is looking for new launch sites and is coordinating units.
