North Korean troops launch group assaults in Kursk region, reports Ukrainian officer
Petro Haidashchuk says North Korean troops in Kursk region conduct assaults in groups of 50, moving across open terrain
He spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"The tactics of North Korean troops in Kursk differ from the Russians. In particular, DPRK soldiers do not act in small assault groups. They conduct assaults in large groups of 50 or more soldiers. Often, they carry out offensive actions in open terrain, attacking Ukrainian positions fully exposed. North Korean troops also disregard Ukrainian drones during attacks and try to shoot them down with small arms. They move quickly and try to get as close as possible to Ukrainian positions," said Haidashchuk.
According to the officer, the North Korean military has recently begun to change its tactics of assault operations. Along with attacks by large assault groups, they also operate in groups of several soldiers.
"Recently, the use of small assault groups for attacks has also been observed. Russian prisoners of war report that they trained for combat alongside North Korean troops at the same training grounds. According to the Russian prisoners, North Korean soldiers have enough time for preparation, are better equipped, have Russian weapons, and even better food.
Their main task is to assault Ukrainian positions, and only if successful do the Russians follow to secure positions and carry out defense actions. We assume that North Korean troops are developing their own tactics on the battlefield. Initially, when they were first involved in assault actions, Ukrainian units observed constant attacks with a large number of personnel. Now, however, the assault tactics of North Korean troops have become more combined. They can attack both in large groups and in small ones. They are indeed testing different tactics, learning, and trying to apply this experience back on the battlefield," he added.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that 4,000 North Korean soldiers out of a total of 12,000 were killed in the fighting in the Kursk region of Russia.
- North Korea can send reinforcements to the Kursk region for Russia's war against Ukraine within the next two months, according to a Pentagon representative.
