North Korean soldiers may appear in Ukraine - Defense Express
Valerii Riabykh, a military expert and development director of the media and consulting company Defense Express, said that the North Korean army is the fifth largest in the world
He shared this opinion with the Espreso TV channel.
‘After analyzing the agreements between Moscow and Pyongyang, South Korea concluded that the agreement may provide for the possibility of fulfilling allied obligations, up to and including sending troops. This is no longer a hypothetical statement, as there is evidence that North Korean soldiers have appeared on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. This indicates the implementation of plans for military cooperation between the two dictatorial regimes. By the way, after the strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, some of them will not be able to return home,’ Riabykh said.
According to the military expert, it should not be ruled out that representatives of the North Korean army may appear in Ukraine.
‘This is a large army, the fifth largest in the world. Of the nearly 1.3 million North Korean military personnel, 1,100,000 are ground troops. They have numerous ground units of various levels, and we can say that they can fill the gap that Russia is currently experiencing,’ Riabykh added.
- On October 4, the Kyiv Post reported that a missile strike on the occupied territory of Donetsk region killed 20 soldiers. Among them, in particular, were six soldiers from the DPRK who were consulting with the Russian army.
- On October 8, South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun warned that North Korea could send its troops to Ukraine to support Russia.
