Russia must stop shelling Nikopol, Marhanets, allow IAEA to Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant - Kyslytsia
Russia is preventing the IAEA mission from accessing the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP). The occupying forces must withdraw from the station to eliminate the nuclear threat.
This was said by Serhiy Kyslytsia, Ukraine's ambassador to the UN, during his speech at the UN Security Council.
He emphasized that Russia is resorting to dangerous provocations at the captured Zaporizhia NPP. Kyslytsia reminded that the occupying forces have placed military equipment there, from which Ukrainian cities along the banks of the Dnieper are shelled.
The Ukrainian ambassador to the UN noted that in order to conduct an IAEA mission to the territory of the ZNPP, Russia must stop shelling Nikopol and Marganets.
"Russia should stop the shelling of these cities, which may prevent this mission from passing (through the territory of Ukraine - Ed.). It is imperative that this mission (MAGETE - Ed.) have experts in the military dimension," said Kislytsia.
In turn, Ukraine welcomes the readiness of the Director General of the IAEA to send an international mission led by the IAEA to the occupied ZNPP, he emphasized, adding that UN military experts should be included in its composition.
"None of us can stop the wind if it carries radiation. But together we are able to stop a terrorist state," the deputy ambassador noted.
Kyslytsia also believes that Russia went all-in by convening a meeting of the UN Security Council.
"This meeting looks cynical, given that today Russia resorted to new shelling of the nuclear power plant, endangering the facility and its personnel," he emphasized.
The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN also called on Moscow to demine the facilities of the ZNPP and to withdraw the military and weapons from the plant.
