Remaining 20,000 Slovyansk residents are urged to evacuate
The head of the Slovyansk City Military Administration, Vadym Liakh, has called on locals to evacuate, saying that 100,000 people used to live in the city, but now there are only 20,000
The head of the Slovyansk City Military Administration shared the details with Espreso TV.
"There were 100,000 people living in Slovyansk, now there are 20,000. Those who wanted to have already left. But among the 20,000 who remained, there are almost 2,000 children and 2,000 disabled citizens. Relatives and acquaintances come to some of them, but they also leave. There were cases when people simply stayed alone in apartments. We find them, because we have the necessary information. We send them to the hospital and only then evacuate", Liakh said.
The official added that forced evacuation from Slovyansk is not planned yet, but people themselves should understand how difficult the winter will be.
"For the time being, we are conducting exploratory work on the need to leave Slovyansk. Currently, there is an opportunity to leave Slovyansk: several directions and with an escort. There will be no forced evacuation so far. But people should understand what awaits them in the winter: problems with water supply, electricity, heat, etc.", Vadym Liakh noted.
