Poland to change refugee strategy and will help equip modular housing in Ukraine
Poland decided to change its strategy regarding Ukrainian refugees in order to encourage people to stay in Ukraine or return home for those who left
Rzeczpospolita writes about it.
Poland’s experts calculated: if residents continue to flee Ukraine en masse, in 2030 there will be about 35 million of them.
"Depopulation of the country would be fatal for Ukraine," the newspaper writes.
Therefore, Poland decided to encourage Ukrainians to return home, and for this purpose it is planned to equip modular housing complexes for 20 thousand people.
"Of course, there may be a different situation, because winter, as well as events related to the dynamics of the war, may lead to the fact that people will come to us more often. Let's prepare for such a turn of events. Next week, the voivods will hold video conferences with local authorities to update information about places that could be used in the event of an influx of refugees. But, in our opinion, such a scenario will not happen," said the authorized representative of the government for war refugees from Ukraine Paweł Szefernaker.
"Today there are no signs that a new wave of refugees will begin," he added.
The first modular town was opened in Lviv. To date, 19 such centers have already been built in the Lviv, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions. Another 8 modular towns are being built in the Kyiv region.
It is noted that the houses can be built separately or combined in one location. Each room is furnished. Equipped toilets, warehouses, a medical center and a dining room are also provided on the territory of the center.
