Polish companies face shortage of workers due to Ukrainian migration fall
Polish entrepreneurs fear that they may be left without employees, as the inflow of migrants from Ukraine is already slowing down, and the government under public pressure may further tighten immigration policy
This is reported by Rzeczpospolita.
The number of vacancies in Polish companies is growing from quarter to quarter, in particular, as of the end of March, there were more than 112,000 of them. In some industries, staff shortages are a problem for half or more of the existing companies. This is the case, for example, in construction, manufacturing companies, transportation and logistics.
The situation may get even worse, according to Credit Agricole economists, who say that the space for further inflow of foreign workers is already limited. The potential for immigration from countries with similar cultures (such as Ukraine and Belarus) is slowly being exhausted, and the government may tighten its migration policy, which will affect the inflow of workers from more distant countries, the experts said.
"The statements of Deputy Minister Maciej Duszczyk, responsible for migration policy, suggest that the number of immigrants in Poland is rapidly approaching the limit set by the country's capacity to integrate them. They concern both the percentage of immigrants that society is able to absorb without generating social tensions, as well as infrastructure challenges related to, among others, providing newcomers with adequate housing conditions, medical care and education for their children," the economists wrote in the report.
