Poland deploys additional military force to Belarus border

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak reported the information on Twitter.

"Over 1,000 soldiers and nearly 200 pieces of equipment from the 12th and 17th Mechanized Brigades are moving to the east of the country as part of Operation Safe Podlasie. This is a demonstration of our readiness to respond to attempts to destabilize our country's border," he wrote.

• On February 23, Poland stepped up security measures on the border with Russia and Belarus.

• Recently, a car with Polish border guards, including 2 officers, came under fire on the border of Poland and Belarus. It is currently unknown who fired at the car. On June 16, Polish border guards called the attack at the border an escalation of the situation.

• On June 21, an Espreso correspondent reported that despite the 5-meter-high, 200-kilometer-long wall, Polish border guards record daily attempts to illegally cross from Belarus.

• On July 2, Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński announced that the Polish border with Belarus would be reinforced with 500  police officers due to the tense situation.
