Orban and others: The way Hungarian officials participate in Russia’s anti-European PSYOP
Ukrainian journalist Oleksandr Kovalenko pointed out that within 24 hours, two Hungarian officials had done their best to sow discord and misunderstanding within the EU
“Hungary took a very active part in the large-scale Russian psyop, aimed at undermining EU stability — and this is something I never doubted,” writes Ukrainian journalist Oleksandr Kovalenko in his blog Zloy Odessit.
Kovalenko notes that Peter Szijjarto, the Foreign Minister of Hungary condemned the burning of the Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm after meeting with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu. But Szijjarto ignored the fact that both the masterminds and the performers of this act are connected to Russia. Meanwhile, Russia's Order of Friendship chevalier Peter Szijjarto added fuel to the fire and blamed Sweden for the incident, emphasizing that Hungary would not prevent the country from joining NATO.
At the same time, Viktor Orban said that Hungary borders the Germans to the west and the Russians to the east, while his country still shares a border with Ukraine in the east.
“One might suggest Orban is just bad in Geography but in fact, this is him, the leader of an EU member state, personally participating in the Russian psyop vaguely titled “Ukraine is a non-existent country, invented by Lenin,” the article reads.
Thus, two Hungarian officials simultaneously participated in a Russian disinformation campaign aimed at sowing discord and misunderstanding within the EU. And that was only within 24 hours.
It is not known how much this cost Russia, but it is clear that now it is critically important for Moscow to stir up Islamophobia through Sweden in order to further increase Ankara's hostility towards Stockholm, as well as to challenge Ukraine's importance in the information space.
“Who will be next in this field? Who else will have their say in this psyop? Karin Kneissl? Gerhard Schroeder? Marine Le Pen? What other minion will express their opinion within the framework of this far-stretching provocation? It is difficult to say how long Europe will keep tolerating this, but the fact that Hungary is turning into a major tumor in the body of the European community is now undeniable,” the author concludes.
