Kremlin still holds several trump cards, is not interested in number of people who will be thrown into the meat grinder of war - General Krivonos

Serhiy Krivonos, reserve major general and first deputy commander of Ukraine's special operations forces (SSO) from 2016 to 2019, believes that in addition to mobilization, the Kremlin will continue nuclear blackmail, because it is ready to accept a million deaths in order to achieve its goal

He expressed this opinion on Espreso.

The major general commented on the Kremlin's possible resources for restraining the Ukrainian army: "First of all, it is the use of mobilized Russians, of whom there are already several hundred thousand. In theory, the Russian Federation can mobilize more, but the issue is not even in quality, but in quantity. Over time, it is possible and turning quantity into quality, the military understands this well, if the solution to these issues is properly approached. Secondly, nuclear blackmail continues, and the Kremlin will continue to blackmail Europe first of all, intimidating it into pushing Ukraine to make concessions towards the Russian Federation. That is they still have a few trump cards they can use. And they are not interested in the number of people they will throw into the meat grinder of war. The Kremlin is ready to accept a million deaths to achieve its goal."

Serhiy Kryvonos noted that regarding threats to use tactical nuclear weapons, this is also in the spirit of the Russian Federation, a kind of St. Petersburg street blackmail at the level of Vladimir Putin.

Kryvonos noted: "They are capable of using nuclear weapons in order to intimidate both us and European society. Where and how they will use them is the next question. To what extent will the lack of any logic be enough for them to use it on large populated cities, or simply there will be a detonation of a nuclear warhead in a deserted area, for example, somewhere in the Zmiyny district or somewhere else. The most important thing for them is blackmail, demonstrating that we detonated one warhead, and wait for the next one at the level of Kyiv or another populated place. But we should not forget that in this case, the Russians will receive a serious and brutal response from our strategic partners. This is a war, so you should not count on the humanity and sincerity of the desire for peace on the part of Russia."
