Invading Russian forces shell Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, territories near nuclear facility - Energoatom
On August 11, invading Russian forces once again shelled the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP) and the territories near it. 10 hits have been confirmed.
Energoatom reported about this on Telegram.
"On August 11, 2022, the Russians once again bombarded the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Ukraine and Europe. Five hits occurred in the area of the commandant's office of the plant - right next to the welding station and the storage of radiation sources", it is noted.
Grass caught fire on the site, but no one was injured.
In addition, five more hits occurred in the area of the fire station, near the ZNPP.
"As a result of shelling at the station, it was not possible to carry out a shift in time. After all, for the safety of nuclear workers, the buses with the personnel of the next shift were turned back to Energodar. Until the situation is finally normalized, the workers of the previous shift will continue to work", Energoatom added.
Currently, the situation at the station is under control. Ukrainians are warned not to believe fake news that the staff is allegedly leaving the station in a panic.
