Russia may attack NATO countries in 2029-2030 — German Defense Minister
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that a Russian attack on NATO countries could be a theoretical possibility between 2029 and 2030
Pistorius shared the information during his visit to Vilnius, Delfi reports.
"Experts believe that Putin may reorganize his armed forces in 2029-2030 to create the necessary conditions for a potential theoretical attack on other countries, particularly NATO members. Therefore, by that time, we must strengthen our defense capabilities. This task, of course, requires both time and resources, but we are committed to achieving our objectives," said Pistorius.
The German minister forecasted an increase in the number of Russian armed forces by 2026.
"Military experts are closely monitoring events in Russia. The military industry is rapidly developing there, producing many tanks and aircraft, which means Russia's armed forces are significantly growing. By 2026, their number is likely to increase to 1.5 million soldiers," said Pistorius.
- Earlier, Boris Pistorius urged to increase Germany's defense spending by at least €30 billion.
