IAEA mission will arrive at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, despite Russian occupiers' efforts to prevent it - Main Intelligence Directorate
On September 1, the International Atomic Energy Agency will arrive at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, despite the occupying Russian forces' efforts to prevent the visit.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"The mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency, headed by the head Rafael Grossi, is to arrive at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on September 1 in order to assess the situation at the plant and establish a permanent representation. The route to bypass the plant is being agreed with the emphasis of the IAEA representatives on the objects damaged by shelling ", the message says.
Intelligence officers emphasized that the possibility of the mission's arrival at the station is constantly "complicated by destructive actions on the part of the occupying administration of the satellite city of the Energodar station and the station itself."
"In particular, the provocative shelling of both the station itself and the possible routes of arrival of the IAEA representatives does not stop. Station employees are subjected to devastating repression. Some of the employees, whom the occupiers consider insufficiently "charitable", have disappeared. Their fate and current whereabouts are unknown. Some of the employees who for various reasons, agreed to cooperate with the occupiers, and the specially prepared "extras" should give the members of the mission the impression of full support of the local residents for the occupiers' actions. Currently, Russian technologists are working with them to work out the scenario and create the necessary "picture" for the Kremlin, - reports Intelligence Directorate.
The message says that during the work of the mission, all the circumstances that led to the emergence of a dangerous situation that could lead to an accident at Europe's largest nuclear facility must be clarified. It is also noted that the IAEA's mission at the station should end with the creation of a permanent representation of the organization at the ZNPP.
"The territory of the station must be immediately demilitarized. After that, a 10-kilometer security zone and a protected transport corridor will be created, which will deliver the necessary equipment and specialists to the ZNPP," the Ministry of Defense emphasized.
