Heavy weapons and negotiations are needed to save Mariupol, - Zelensky in conversation with mass media

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with online media, “Ukrainian truth” reports.

"Mariupol. Situation is very difficult. Our military is blocked, wounded are blocked. There is a humanitarian crisis, there is no food, no water, no medicine. Nevertheless,  guys are defending themselves. And only to say thank you is not enough, so negotiations are underway. Honestly, no. We agreed that there would be humanitarian corridors. Russia refused, "he said.

President added that authorities "in connection with guys at blocked plant", talks are "at different levels."

"They know that they are carrying out most powerful mission today. So enemy is afraid that  number of enemy exceeds six times. There are several circles blocking Mariupol," President said.

According to him, Azov fighters are already heroes, and "no one would forbid them to take certain steps."

Zelensky added that Russians are taking people out of Mariupol: "Many people have disappeared, we don’t know how many people disappeared."

"What can save Mariupol? It is a powerful weapon that must be provided as soon as possible. Second is a matter of negotiation. A ceasefire is needed to take away wounded. But it depends on Russia's desire. They offer our people to surrender to our military there. And you know it very well. And there are soldiers whom they hate and are unlikely to save their lives. Yes, maybe repeat of Ilovaisk," President concluded.
