European Union to allocate over EUR 433 million for Ukrainian refugees
Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg will receive an additional EUR 433.79 million to support Ukrainian people fleeing Russian aggression
The European Commission shared the news.
The European Union will provide Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg with EUR 433.79 million to compensate for costs related to the provision of Ukrainian refugees and recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
EUR 33.4 million from the European Social Fund (ESF) will go to Belgium to strengthen the organization, counseling and support of refugees with employment. The goal is the integration into the labor market of refugees from Ukraine and unprotected job seekers who have lost their job or are in unstable employment conditions after the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Luxembourg, the Fund for Aid to the Destitute will receive EUR 390,000 to deliver additional food aid to people in need.
In Italy, EUR 136 million will be added to the Operational Program "Management and Institutional Capacity" to help reduce pressure on the country's health system, promote the recruitment of new health workers and cover the costs of 23,200 additional working hours of doctors and other medical personnel during a pandemic. In addition, EUR 264 million will be directed to the purchase of doses of vaccines against Covid-19.
