EU, NATO membership guarantee Ukraine's continued existence - Ukrainian MP
Ukrainian MP Mykola Kniazhytsky believes that Ukraine's membership in key international organizations creates an opportunity for a unified response to Russia and eliminates any future threat to Ukrainian statehood
He expressed his opinion with Espreso.
"The problem isn't with us, but with Putin, with solidarity to stop Putin from attacking modern world values and the European Union in particular. And they are trying to replace this problem with questions about Ukraine. I think it's unfair and there is no prospect," MP said.
Mykola Kniazhytsky noted that Ukraine shouldn't give any reasons not to let us into the EU, but on the contrary we need to implement reforms, shouldn't restrict freedom of speech and so on.
"If we are part of NATO or the EU, it's a guarantee of our existence. Then Russia will receive a solidary response and so strong that this offensive will have no prospects, but Ukraine's prospects to remain as a state. The Russians' goal is to deprive Ukrainians of their own state, in general, to make them disappear as a nation. Therefore, their reluctance to allow our membership in international union organizations is obvious," he stressed.
Mykola Kniazhytsky summed up that we shouldn't see any other option than Ukraine's membership in both NATO and the EU, as we want to survive as a state.
