Estonia will ban entry to the country for most Russians in weeks - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Estonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Urmas Reinsalu, has said that in a few weeks' time, Estonians will ban the entry of most Russians into their territory.
He told Reuters about it.
"It will take some time, but I think that time is also of the essence, considering such a huge number of Russian citizens entering," the Estonian minister said.
According to him, Estonia aims to ban entry for security reasons, regardless of whether Russian-issued Schengen visas are issued by Estonia or any other Schengen country.
Reinsalu said 300,000 Russians had entered his country of 1.3 million in the past six months, so he was aiming to reduce that number "as much as possible". However, the minister noted, there will be exceptions.
He added that if the imprisoned Russian politician Oleksii Navalny were released, Estonia would be happy to receive Navalny himself, his family and "all brave participants of the civil resistance."
According to the minister, Russians will also be allowed to enter Estonia for humanitarian, family or medical reasons or if they come as diplomats.
