British intelligence says why Russia uses Belarus’ territory
Russia uses the territory of Belarus and Belarusian instructors to train its mobilized soldiers
This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence on Twitter.
In March 2023, Russia redeployed at least 1,000 servicemen who had been training at the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground, southwestern Belarus.
Despite the fact that no new rotation of Russian troops has been spotted, Russia has left the tent camp in place, suggesting that the training program may continue, experts say.
"The fact Russia has resorted to training its personnel under the much less-experienced Belarusian army highlights how Russia’s ‘special military operation’ has severely dislocated the Russian military’s training system – instructors have largely been deployed in Ukraine," the British Ministry of Defence writes.
Intelligence officers also do not rule out that Russia probably sees Belarus' indirect support for the operation as an important political signal.

On the morning of March 24, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized that Russia continues to maintain a military presence in Belarus. However, no offensive groupings have been observed.
