Border blockade: Trucks redirected to Hungary and Romania checkpoints instead of Slovakia
Due to a protest by Slovak carriers at the "Vyšné Nemecké – Uzhgorod" checkpoint, customs officials in Transcarpathia are directing trucks to alternative checkpoints
This information was reported by Transcarpathian customs.
"To prevent queues at the Uzhgorod – Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint, Transcarpathian customs directs carriers to nearby border crossings such as Chop – Záhony, bordering Hungary, or Dyakove – Halmeu, at the Romanian border," states the message.
Slovak protesters have hindered truck movement from Ukraine to Slovakia on the "Vyšné Nemecké" highway, yet there are no issues with large vehicles entering Ukraine from Slovakia.
Regarding the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, Hungarian customs officials report a carrier demonstration on their side, causing no disruptions for truck traffic.
Passenger transport flows normally in both directions.
As of December 12 morning, 30 trucks are waiting for departure (e-queue - 1,262) and 500 for entry at the "Uzhgorod – Vyšné Nemecké" railway station. Additionally, 60 are queued for departure (in e-queue - 3,052), and 550 for entry. At the Dyakove - Halmeu railway station, 30 cars await departure (e-queue - 875), and 200 for entry.
