Bakhmut locals can leave, but refuse to - volunteer Rostyslav Radysh
People of all ages, including children and young people, remain in Bakhmut.
Volunteer Rostyslav Radysh shared the information on Espreso’s War and volunteers TV programme.
"We offered people to evacuate, but everyone, who wanted to leave, has done so already,” Rostislav Radysh says. “They wanted to stay in the town and help their neighbors and friends. That's why no one left with us."
According to Rostyslav, it is possible to leave Bakhmut, because there are volunteers from different regions offering help present in the town.
"These people are heroes," the volunteer emphasizes. “They stay there, together with the locals they do everything to maintain life in the town. But now there is a very small percentage of people who would like to leave and most likely it is due to the inability to support themselves. Children are staying in the Invincibility Centers, located deeper in the town. There is a Christmas tree there, wrapped gifts for children, because it was St. Nicholas Day when we arrived. Locals together with volunteers and the military take care of each other, so that they are provided with everything despite the lack of food and water, lack of electricity, lack of absolutely everything. But it inspires us to do what we do."
