Almost 4,000 men held in 'filtration camps' in Donetsk region - Denisova
Russian forces move men from temporarily occupied territories to 'filtration camps.' The number is growing, almost 4,000 men are now being held in Bezimenne and Kozatske villages in the Donetsk region.
Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmyla Denisova shared the details in her Telegram channel.
"Their number has doubled just in the last two weeks. No one held in the camps came back. The men stay in terrible conditions, sleeping on the floor in stuffiness and unsanitary, subjected to tortures and abuse," says Lyudmyla Denisova.
Russia states that men will be taken from the camps to armed groupings in temporary occupied territories in July and August.
"To do this, our citizens are forced to write statements about obtaining citizenship of a self-proclaimed pseudo-republic or Russia.
Capture and torture of hostages is an act of terrorism, according to the Council of Europe Convention on the prevention of terrorism and war crimes under Article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court," adds the Commissioner.
