About 10 people die waiting to evacuate Zaporizhzhia region in Russian attack - Melitopol's mayor
People have been killed in evacuation queues in the Zaporizhzhia region. Invading Russian forces have fired at convoys of vehicles
The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, announced this on Espreso TV.
"The only way we advise our people is to evacuate from the temporarily occupied territories. This is extremely difficult, because the Russians use our residents as human shields in the city of Vasylivka during the evacuation, where more than 5 thousand residents are now concentrated", he said.
Fedorov said that Ukrainians are dying in the queue for evacuation.
"There are terrible examples, when on August 9 a newborn child was admitted to the hospital with a sunburn. We clearly understand that about 10 people have already died before being evacuated. On August 9, a bus passing through the "gray zone" was also shot by artillery, the Russians deliberately opened fire", the mayor said.
In his opinion, it is definitely safer to go to a free territory, because the civilian population is worthless to the Russian enemy.
