Forced evacuation from Kupyansk district of Kharkiv region
On October 27, the Kharkiv Regional Defense Council decided to forcibly evacuate families with children from Kupyansk district due to constant shelling.
Children will be taken out with at least one of their parents or another guardian. The forced evacuation procedure takes place in several stages. First, parents are informed where they can go and what assistance will be provided. Then they discuss their readiness and a specific date. After that, volunteers or the Red Cross arrive with the support of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, together with the police and the children's service, to help pack and move the family.
All evacuees are provided with housing and support from international humanitarian organisations.
Later, the head of the Kupyansk district military administration, Andriy Kanashevych, said that during the evacuation they had faced misunderstanding from parents, as they believed that the settlements were safe enough.
