Zelenskyy explains why he did not warn Ukrainians about start of a full-scale war
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that if he had warned Ukrainians about the start of a full-scale war, Ukraine might not exist
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a press conference on the air of the telethon.
"Who should protect? Do you think that only people with machine guns should protect? Do you think that they do not have women and children? They have parents and relatives, they are the same people. And what are they motivated by - salary? No, maybe , someone, most of them - Ukraine. And what is Ukraine? Land and families. And if all their families left? Then what are they protecting? If there were no people in Ukraine, we would lose our state. This is my subjective opinion... I don't know if I'm right. I stayed and the people stayed... If I knew exactly what they were going to do, I would have said all these things. But I don't know what would happen after the president of the state would say: "Run, run, and I will run with you," said the President of Ukraine.
According to Zelenskyy, he was offered to evacuate the population of Kyiv.
"There was a proposal to evacuate the capital, the entire population, close all the infrastructure, all shops, turn off the electricity, etc. This was a proposal according to what could happen, that there would be no light, the sewage treatment plants would not work, so there would be no drinking water and there will be many things. This was on the first day of powerful missile strikes. My question was the following: and when there are missile strikes all over the country, where will we evacuate it? To Poland, Slovakia, Romania? Tell me, after a large global evacuation - give at least one give me a percentage guarantee that Russia will not return, enter and completely occupy our territory?" says the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
